EMDR Therapy

EMDR INTENSIVE BENEFITS

I define trauma as an image, experience, or event that overwhelms the nervous system. As the body and brain try to make sense of the experience, the memory may become stored with negative beliefs, sensations, and emotions as a result of the event. These negatively stored memories can "trigger" us long after the event, creating reactions today as if the event is happening all over again.  Often, issues and barriers to trauma resolution can be resolved in one Intensive Session. Because we keep the momentum of the healing going, we can go deep and stay deep to clear the target issue rather than starting and stopping due to the session ending.

The results of an Intensive Session can equal weeks or months of weekly therapy. This means faster increases in life satisfaction, quicker elimination of suffering, and a greater saving of your time and money. Your EMDR Intensive is constructed as follows:

  • Intake Session (120 mins) = $300
  • Half-Day EMDR Intensive (3+ hours) = $300 per hour
  • 4-week follow-up on adaptive processing/future templating (50 minutes) = $0
  • Three mental health/trauma assessments
  • Six inventory assessments with personal reflection
  • Resource identification/self-care checklist
  • Treatment goals
  • Customized treatment workbook for your records

WHAT TO EXPECT IN YOUR EMDR INTENSIVE

The EMDR Intensive consists of three parts: an Assessment Appointment; an Intensive Processing Session; and a Follow-up Appointment. The Intensive Program begins with a 2 hour Assessment Appointment one week prior to the Intensive Processing Session. This appointment is used to discuss the concerns bringing you to treatment, address your questions, and identify the belief systems that have reinforced the old patterns of thinking and feeling.

Your initial session begins by developing resources to increase your sense of calm, security, and control, allowing you to more confidently examine your trauma. The remainder of this session will be collaborating on current symptoms and earlier target memories experienced. Reprocessing the trauma with EMDR will last 3 hours in the half-day format with breaks for self-care as needed. The Intensive Program concludes with a 50-minute follow-up virtual/in-person appointment 2-4 weeks after your processing session.  In complex cases, especially with multiple traumatic events, additional intensive work will be recommended.

*Note: 50% is due at the time of scheduling the Intensive and the remainder is due at your first appointment. **Insurance is not accepted for the Intensive Program
