Counseling and EMDR therapy offer a unique opportunity to recognize and harness the power of our own unique insight. It helps us recognize the changes we want to make, both within ourselves and in the world we live. Through counseling, we can explore our past and how it has shaped who we are today. We can talk openly in a confidential setting and create a safe space for us to confront any fears or worries that may be holding us back. As we delve more deeply into our psyche, counseling can help develop an increased self-awareness and realize our capacity for change, growth and potential.
When selecting a counseling professional, you want to be sure you have the best fit. To make sure I'm the right person for you and your counseling journey, I offer a complimentary 15-20 minute consultation so we can chat and get to know each other! My counseling style is friendly and authentic while also specialized to suit a variety of needs, whether it's resolving trauma, understanding anxiety or depression, or working through relationship conflicts, or healing from attachment wounds. My counseling practice relies heavily on Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a therapeutic approach that helps process painful memories in a more adaptive way. If you're looking for flexible appointment times, professionalism, and plenty of experience with diverse ages, then I'm your counseling provider!

Meeting You Where You're At: My office is a safe space where you can share your struggles without judgment. Good relationships don't just happen - they take a certain effort and dedication to maintain. Counseling, EMDR, and other counseling services can help us navigate the process of understanding each other, understanding our hurt feelings, and repairing any broken connections that may have occurred. We will work together to put aside old patterns of communication, identify what caused the relationship strain, understand hurt feelings and move toward a healthier, more rewarding relationship. By taking an honest and open approach, we can use counseling services to reconnect with each other in healthy ways.
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. Developed by Francine Shapiro in 1987 for the treatment of PTSD, it can be used to treat any past or recent memory that causes physical, emotional, or mental distress.
During EMDR, the client will focus on a specific event while noticing the negative image, belief, emotion, and body sensation related to the event. The therapist will lead the client in sets of Bilateral stimulation (eye movements, sounds, or tapping) which enables the brain to freely associate and process the memory. The client may experience shifts in images, feelings, or beliefs regarding the past traumatic event. The sets are continued until the memory becomes less disturbing and the negative emotions, beliefs, and sensations associated with the memory are resolved.
Clients see results very quickly with EMDR, although some clients take a little longer depending on how much time they need to process and how quickly they move through the process. An average treatment time can be anywhere from 3-6 months.
