I believe in the changes therapy can make in how we see ourselves and in our potential for change.
Being able to talk openly in a confidential and accepting setting helps the brain feel safe and connected so it can begin making the changes that serve us best.
I offer flexible appointment times, a friendly and authentic service and have experience working with a wide range of age groups and issues including trauma resolution, anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, and identity development.
Session length can run 50 or 90 minutes, it's a personal preference. The number of sessions and content of our time together is completely your choice. The goal is to heal your current symptoms and develop the tools you didn't have prior to coming into my office. Our sessions will be collaborative and work toward your optimal functioning in the most efficient manner.
It's important that you believe I am a good fit for you so I offer a 15-20 complimentary consultation prior to meeting to give us time to chat.
Meeting you where you’re at…
My office is a safe space where you can share your struggles without judgment. At your pace, we will work together to understand your past experiences and how to process them in a way that makes better sense. You’ll quickly find I’m a very down-to-earth therapist and eager to walk beside you on your life journey.
Good relationships don’t just happen…Feeling connected, cared for, and understood requires time, patience, and a desire to understand each other. Together, we will work to understand the hurting relationship and move toward repair. As we work together, we will explore unresolved issues and communication patterns while moving toward a healthier relationship.
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. Developed by Francine Shapiro in 1987 for the treatment of PTSD, it can be used to treat any past or recent memory that causes physical, emotional, or mental distress.
During EMDR, the client will focus on a specific event while noticing the negative image, belief, emotion, and body sensation related to the event. The therapist will lead the client in sets of Bilateral stimulation (eye movements, sounds, or tapping) which enables the brain to freely associate and process the memory. The client may experience shifts in images, feelings, or beliefs regarding the past traumatic event. The sets are continued until the memory becomes less disturbing and the negative emotions, beliefs, and sensations associated with the memory are resolved.
Clients see results very quickly with EMDR, although some clients take a little longer depending on how much they need to process and how quickly they move through the process. An average treatment time can be anywhere from 3-6 months.
